The Spirit Candles are pre-Scourge artifacts used
to detect undead and spirits. They are eight inches long with a
short, charred wick. The colors of the wax vary, but they are typically
grey or black. The wick and wax will not burn under any circumstances
short of dragon breath.

Key Knowledge: The Name of the candle.
Effect: The candle ignites and extinguishes at will for a cost of
one strain. It illuminates a 50 yard radius and may be carried by
anyone after it is lit by its weaver.
Rank 2
Cost 200
Effect: When lit, the candle detects nearby undead creatures. If
it suceeds on a detection test (rolled by the GM: step 8 + the thread
rank vs. spell defense) the flame burns blue. This range of this
spell is 50 yards.
Rank 3
Cost 300
Key Knowledge: The Name of the person who created the candle.
Effect: The detection and light radius is extended to 100 yards.
Rank 4
Cost 500
Effect: The Cleansing Flame power. The weaver uses Spellcasting
or Perception against the target's spell defense. If successful,
the undead (or manifested spirit) takes step 10 damage for several
rounds. (Roll a duration test with a step equal to the thread rank.)
This ability costs 4 strain per use.

Key Knowledge: The location of the hives where the wax was collected.
Effect: The detection radius is extended to 200 yards and gives
the weaver the general direction of the closest detected undead.
The light radius is extended to 150 yards.

Effect: The detection radius is extended to 300 yards and give the
weaver a specific direction of the closest detected undead. The
light radius is extended to 200 yards. |
