Aryx
I am Aryx
It has not always been so; I was born to a different Name, such
as so many of us are. I decided not to replace my Name however,
instead choosing a name by which I would be called, preventing all
but a select few from knowing my Name, and my history. I felt it
important since my parents are still alive, and I sought to protect
them from anyone exacting retribution on them for my actions. Though
it does not seem to have been long since I departed for the first
time, over a decade has passed since I took up my Discipline and
left home to do my share in reclaiming Barsaive from the various
groups that plague our land. My path in this life has not been easy,
but it never is, for those of us who combat the remnants of the
Scourge. Still, there are easier ways than mine, for I am a Nethermancer,
shunned by the world I have sworn to protect. I do not blame those
who fear me, for there was a time when even I was afraid of the
powers I now wield. Fortunately, not everyone bears the same blind
dread of my Discipline; I have met many people in my travels who
are willing, or even eager, to study and fight along side me.
My history is quite involved, as I have accomplished much in my
rise to power. I have faced combat against Name-Givers, Horrors,
and creatures that defy description. Still, not every victory is
won by bloodshed, though far too many situations seem to result
in fighting, regardless of any efforts to resolve them peacefully.
Of course, there are times when it is better to attack immediately;
little was ever accomplished by negotiating with Horrors. I have
been told that Therans are difficult to reason with as well, but
I have found them quite compliant when given the proper motivation.
Theran slavers, or any other slavers for that matter, are usually
less inclined to talk, and I have yet to come to odds with a slaver
who has survived the encounter. I would elaborate on the subjects
at which I have hinted, but time grows ever short, as new threats
to the peace of Barsaive appear. I am always happy to share information,
should any ask. Until next we meet, always be on your guard, and
fare thee well.
