Final word count was 50,089 words. And I got the ending I'd planned on.

I had exactly 3 days and 1 hour to spare. And I'm done with this bitch. This was a story I had to write, but now that it's done, I'm done with it. What a beast. But I did it! That's two years in a row!

Days 21-23

I think I'm going to cry.
I haven't felt well for a few days, and I let that be my reason for not writing. I wanted to quit and until yesterday, had barely cracked the 21k mark.

Last night, I ended with about 22k.

Tonight, I ended with 30,159 words. My shoulders hurt, my wrists are sore and there's still a long way to go, but the 30ks are much easier than the 20ks since you're that much closer. I'm only 3181 words short of where I should be tonight, and after yesterday, that's a bloody miracle.

If I could do 8000 words today, between 1pm and midnight, I can easily do 3257 words a day for the next two days, I'll be back on track. But I want to do more over the holiday weekend. That's where it's won or lost.

Days 10-11

So apparently, this year not only is my plot sucking, but my updating is sucking too. I haven't kept my wipe board updated either.

None the less, I am now up to 17,364 words and I'm stopping for the night. I'm tired and about to start whining.

I'm a little behind tonight, as the goal for the end of Friday (to stay on track) is 18,337, but I just finished a really rough scene and am working on some dry stuff right now. It's a good stopping place.

The only question is, will my plot stretch me another 33,000 words?

Days 7-9

I ended day 6 with 12,147 words and that's what stayed on my white board until tonight. I just didn't do shit Monday (the whole flat tire thing left me worn out). And I only wrote a little bit on Tuesday, not enough to update the board.

But tonight... I tried to make up for it. Now up to 15,219 words.

Also, I am embarrassed to say that I used Wikipedia to find a short summary of the Brookings Report. I didn't have the time to wade through all 50 pages tonight. That'll be a revision thing, if I ever get around to that on this novel.

Over two days, I've got the total word count to 10,513 words, but I'm not done for the night yet. Looking good, as the estimate for the end of tomorrow is 10002 words.

Up to 6,501 words now. I had a hard time with writing tonight. I'm tired. I hope to make 10k this weekend though. Higher than that would be better, maybe 15k, but I gotta sleep some time. ;)

Day 1

Well, Day 1 is done. I'm way ahead of the game, I think. I closed the file for the night with 3,430 words. Considering last year, I didn't have this word count until day 7, I'm feeling far more optimisting than I was yesterday. If only my character could sleep too. :P
