This is what I posted on the forums:
So this is the first NaNo in 8 years
that I won’t be finishing. I’ve been having a lot of health
issues (both mental and physical) and I’m having to make hard
decisions about what’s best for me right now. It feels bad that
I’m quitting, but I have to choose myself and my health.
I’m having to prepare for the first real surgery of my life as
well as quitting one of my maintenance meds and I’m in a lot of
I’m not going to quit the story, I just don’t
have it in me to push on through as quickly as NaNo requires. I’m
only really posting this in the hopes that it will be cathartic for me
and maybe relieve some of the guilt I’m feeling over quitting.
I love NaNo, and I’ll be back next year, but for now,
I wish all the rest of you the best of word luck! Maybe I’ll see
you at camp!
