Garretts Wrath

Garrett's Wrath is a curved dagger as long as a man's forearm, the hilt wrapped in gold wire and the pommel set with a ruby the size of a robin's egg. Garrett the Thief commissioned the dagger from a dwarf weaponsmith Named Ekim the Unquestioning, a local supplier of questionable services, and using his formidable talents managed to Forge a shadowmant stinger into the blade giving it poisonous properties like those of the shadowmant itself. Garrett gave Ekim a tidy sum to Forge the blade to the best of his abilities and also to weave True Earth and True Air into its pattern making it sharp, strong, and quick. The final procedure that Ekim accomplished before his untimely death was the forging of the Weapon Back spell into the ruby set in the pommel of the dagger.

Victims of the daggers' sting suffer the effects of shadowmant poison, which resists healing talents, poultices and potions (Spell Defense 8). If successfully poisoned, the victim will continue to take damage every turn until either properly treated or until dead. The wielder of Garrett's Wrath is immune to the effects of the poisonous properties of the dagger after attaching a Thread to it, but not to any other poison or the effects of other shadowmant toxins.

Garrett's Wrath inflicts Step 8 damage.


Thread Ranks

Rank 1 Cost: 100

Key Knowledge: The character must know that he holds Garrett's Wrath.

Effect: When an attack successfully pierces the skin of a victim (draws blood) the wielder must roll his Spellcasting Step plus Thread Rank (or Perception plus Thread Rank if he doesn't possess Spellcasting) versus the victim's Spell Defense. On a successful roll, the victim has been affected by the venom of the blade and begins to suffer Step 9 damage every round until cured of the poison or until he dies.


Rank 2 Cost: 200

Key Knowledge: The character must learn that the poison comes from an extraordinarily large shadowmant stinger that has been Forged into the blade of the dagger.

Effect: Garrett's Wrath adds +1 Step to Surprise Strike talent use while wielding the dagger.


Rank 3 Cost: 300

Key Knowledge: The character must learn that the blade was endowed with True elements and what proportions of those elements were used (one kernel of True Earth and True Air).

Effect: When an attack successfully pierces the skin of a victim (draws blood) the wielder must roll his Spellcasting Step plus Thread Rank (or Perception plus Thread Rank if he doesn't possess Spellcasting) versus the victim's Spell Defense. On a successful roll, the victim has been affected by the venom of the blade and begins to suffer Step 10 damage every round until cured of the poison or until he dies.


Rank 4 Cost: 500

Key Knowledge: The character must learn that the dwarf Weaponsmith Ekim the Unquestioning forged the dagger.

Effect: Garrett's Wrath adds +2 Steps to Surprise Strike talent use while wielding the dagger.


Rank 5 Cost: 800

Key Knowledge: The character must learn the name of the first victim of the dagger (Ekim).

Effect: When an attack successfully pierces the skin of a victim (draws blood) the wielder must roll his Spellcasting Step plus Thread Rank (or Perception plus Thread Rank if he doesn't possess Spellcasting) versus the victim's Spell Defense. On a successful roll, the victim has been affected by the venom of the blade and begins to suffer Step 11 damage every round until cured of the poison or until he dies.
